Vancouver East is where most Vancouverites live and play!   While Vancouver West gets the lions’ share of tourists, Vancouver East is full of charming neighbourhoods, parks and recreation opportunities that are well worth exploring in their own right!

• Trout Lake – a small, yet very popular fresh water lake.   Trout Lake features walking and bicycling trails around the lake, a beach, swimming area, picnic area, dog off-leash areas and concessions.   The beach at the south end of the lake offers beautiful mountain vistas across the lake!
• Fraser River Trail and the River District – the City of Vancouver has a long term plan to have bicycling and walking trails along the full length of the Fraser River.  The Fraser River trail is a long linear greenway, beginning at Boundary Road (the boundary with the City of Burnaby) and extending all the way to Cambie Street.  It’s a lovely place for a walk or bike ride, with many little beaches along the way.  You can often see the airplanes heading into Vancouver International from here!
• Hastings Park – Hastings Park is best known as the home of the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE), as well as Hastings Race Course.   But there are also beautifully landscaped areas, with elegant, custom designed bridges over man-made waterways and lagoons.   Hastings Park is very crowded during the PNE, but an urban oasis at other times.
• New Brighton Park is nestled along Burrard Inlet at the southern end of the Second Narrows bridge.   It is a charming little park, complete with a private beach, beautiful mountain and bridge views.   It is not well known, so it’s one of our favourite destinations on busy holiday weekends!
